Secure the door in place before you start actually adjusting the door push it up as far as possible.
Tilt garage door side extension springs adjustment.
Open the door fully to relieve the tension on the hinge springs at each side of the door opening.
Adjust the springs on both sides of the door the same way.
Raise the door and release the garage door opener.
If you notice a gap on one side it means that one of the springs is putting more force on the door than the other.
If the door was closing too quickly move the spring to the next higher hole on the bracket.
The springs extend along the shaft and work by twisting as the garage door closes by means of cables attached to each side of the lowest garage door panel.
You will have to adjust the tension on that side.
As the one piece door opens the extension spring continues to pull down on the lever arm.
When you help raise the bottom of the door you raise one end of the lever arm.
To be able to adjust the springs the door must be in a position that release the tension on the springs.
As the door opens the extension spring contracts and loses its pull.
This tension makes it easier to lift the garage door from its closed position.
