A very common problem that is associated with door knobs is that they do not latch properly.

If nothing happens when you turn the knob it s usually because the set screw holding the knob to the rod has worked itself loose.
2 loosen but do not remove the exterior door handle bezel retaining screw and remove the exterior door handle bezel.

When this happens the door does not shut and opens up at any time.
Step 2 adjust the striker plate which will have two screws mounted in adjustable slots.

You can make sure that it is the latch by looking at the strike plate and noticing if the tongue sets in the strike plate correctly.
